Do You Need a Gut Health Cleanse?

A Gut Health Cleanse is also known as detoxification where you remove natural toxins from your body.

Despite the fact that our bodies are naturally designed to produce waste byproducts as a result of normal metabolic function, sometimes our bodies can get overburdened. Some research shows that certain chemicals may affect our immune, endocrine, nervous and reproductive systems.

What is a Gut Health Cleanse?

Spending a specific amount of time eliminating specific toxic foods from your diet will allow for your body to reset itself. Typically, 21 days is the best duration at minimum. During the 21 days, the focus is to eat whole, unprocessed foods that are organic as it is the best way to ensure you are removing any foods that cause concern. Naturally, eliminating alcohol and caffeine is required as well.

Instead, you will focus on eating ample vegetables, fruits, and drinking plenty of water. Select proteins can be folded in at the right time.

It goes without saying that you cannot eat this way for the rest of your life, so you would spend a gradual amount of time reintroducing some of the foods and drinks that were eliminated once the 21 days is over. Most Gut Health Cleanses use some form of natural supplementation to enhance the bodies abilities to rid the toxins while supporting the bodies natural systems.

5 Signs You Need a Gut Health Cleanse

1) You feel “full,” but you haven’t eaten and you are scared of food

I’ve heard people say things like “I want to eat because I know I need to, but my stomach is full and bloated, so I can’t even think about food!”

This is a multifaceted sticky point that screams for the support of a Gut Health Cleanse. An integral part of our Gut Health programs is to continually improve your relationship with food. Too many people are scared of foods and how they make their bodies react so they stay stuck in a non-eating cycle. This leads to lack of energy, poor sleep, brain fog and much more.

You can break this viscous cycle by doing a purification process followed by a specific reintroduction phase will help you identify what is causing the problem. After you have this understanding, you will naturally feel in control with food once again. This can make it much more simple to develop healthier eating habits over time. Imagine feeling confident and in control with your nutrition again.

2) You get “stuffy head” after eating

After consuming foods, have you ever noticed a stuffy head or a runny nose? What about eyes watering or itching?

You may initially think “allergies” (especially if you live in Denver in spring time like me) but it could actually be a symptom of your Gut Health needing some TLC. There could be multiple food triggers causing this symptom, and with the right Gut Health program that includes a Reintroduction phase, you can actually nail down what type of food causes this. That stuffy head feeling and runny nose feeling can lead you to feeling chronically fatigued and it doesn’t have to be that way.

3) You suffer from Digestive issues

IBS-C and IBS-D are a real thing. So is SIBO. If you have either one of these diagnosis, it’s time to reset your gut so your digestive tract can feel better and have less strain and inflammation.

Take a moment to consider your bowel movements. Being regular and having a healthy gut typically means one to two bowel movements a day. These bowel movements are passed without them being too loose or too difficult when your Gut Health is where it needs to be. If you’re not having a bowel movement for 2+ days or more, you need this not just for gut health but also for improved mood! I know what happens to me when I am not regular. It’s not pretty and no one should be suffering through that.

4) Your energy levels are low

Are you running for that 2nd cup of coffee and it’s not even 10am? Come 3pm are you falling out of your chair because you are so tired? Can you barely make it through the night time news without nodding off?

These are signs that your gut could be suffering. Pounding coffee or energy drinks to get yourself through the day is hard on the body in more ways than one. In addition, all the acid from coffees and these types of beverages are wreaking additional havoc on the body.

Each client we have go through our Gut Health Purification Program expresses how much their overall energy levels have increased and how much their stamina has vastly improved. I don’t know about you, but having more energy leads to me doing more of the things I love in life and we could all use more of that.

5) Bloat and Gas are common issues in your daily life

Life is just better without dealing with daily gas issues. Same goes for bloat.

I once talked with a woman that would bring an extra set of clothes to work because once she ate lunch, she would bloat so bad, the smaller size clothes she wore to work no longer fit. She had to change into the second set of clothes that was one size larger. Maybe your situation is not as extreme, but if you’re feeling discomfort know that it is possible to change and improve your day to day life. Gas and bloat can be so painful and last for what feels like so long. If you feel these symptoms, your gut is trying to tell you something. Are you listening?

What To Do If You Experience Gut Health Issues

If you are feeling or dealing with anything I have spoken about above, it does NOT have to be that way.

Most people will just keep going about their life with these horrible feelings being their “new normal” and it does not have to be that way. It is possible to learn your triggers, find a new normal, and raise your standard of living.

Life and living in your body can once again feel great; you can have a positive relationship with food.

How to Find a Cleanse for Gut Health

I would encourage you to ensure you choose a nutrition program that is supported by a Clinical Nutritionist, Holistic Nutritionist, or Registered Dietician so that you are not blindly walking the path of some random juice or pill cleanse you found off of Instagram.

Feed Your Soul does offer a specific Gut Health Purification Program that pairs you with a Clinical Nutritionist. This program includes a specific reintroduction phase, which is usually left out in your typical “detox” even though it is a more critical component.
